OUR HISTORY

Earth Service Corps was created by the Seattle Metrocenter YMCA in 1989 as a way to involve young people in the environment and community leadership. The first official Earth Service Corps event was an environmental symposium at the University of Washington on November 8th. 270 teens from 13 Seattle-area high schools attended. Soon, clubs began to spring up all over the city.

The West Volusia YMCA Earth Service Corps has been a welcome part of our community for more than 10 years.  The YMCA Earth Service Corps is a high quality, club-based, service-learning program for youth. The goals are leadership development, environmental education and action, and cross-cultural awareness.
